Fradi smash Vasas; Szolnok surge into top four after statement win in Budapest

Szolnok were the standout performers of Round 17 in the Hungarian Championships, claiming a crucial 15:11 away victory over OSC Budapest to climb into fourth place, overtaking Vasas in the standings.

OSC made the brighter start and briefly led at 2:1, but that proved to be their only advantage of the contest. Szolnok quickly took control with a three-goal burst to lead 4:2, before extending their advantage through the second quarter (6:3, 7:4).

Despite trailing for most of the match, OSC refused to go away. A strong third period saw the hosts close the gap to 10:9, and they again reduced the deficit to a single goal early in the fourth (10:11). However, that was as close as they would get. Szolnok responded emphatically, scoring four unanswered goals to open up a decisive 15:10 lead and put the game beyond reach.

Maxim Csech led Szolnok’s attack with five goals, while OSC’s David Gál delivered an outstanding individual performance with six goals, finishing as the match’s top scorer.

Ferencváros dominant despite Mandic absence

League leaders Ferencváros continued their relentless form with a commanding 18:6 victory over Vasas, even without injured star Dušan Mandić.

The match was competitive early on, with Vasas equalising four times (1:1, 2:2, 3:3, 4:4) across the opening stages. But from the midway point of the second quarter, Ferencváros took complete control. The defending champions produced a devastating run, scoring 14 goals while conceding just twice for the remainder of the match.

It was a complete team performance, with ten different players finding the scoresheet. Stylianos Argyropoulos and Krisztián Manhercz led the way with three goals each.

Szeged secure comfortable win, Honvéd–BVSC postponed

Szeged recorded a solid 12:7 victory over Eger, building their advantage early with a dominant 5:1 opening quarter and managing the game effectively from there.

The scheduled clash between Honvéd and BVSC has been postponed until late April due to BVSC’s involvement in the Euro Cup.
