Terrassa stun Sant Andreu in dramatic comeback thriller

Terrassa picked up one of the most dramatic wins of the Spanish League season, edging Sant Andreu 16:15 in the standout match of Round 19.

The visitors looked in full control for much of the contest. Sant Andreu led 12:8 after three quarters and extended that advantage to 13:8 early in the fourth, seemingly putting the result beyond doubt. But Terrassa produced a remarkable response. Inspired by Lars ten Broek, the hosts exploded with a 7:2 run to turn the game around, drawing level at 15:15 with just two minutes remaining. Gerard Cuacos then completed the comeback, scoring the decisive goal with 27 seconds left on the clock. Ten Broek and Cuacos both finished with four goals, while Sant Andreu’s Lucas Wulfhorst and Aleix Herrero also scored four each in defeat.

Barceloneta delivered another dominant performance, cruising to a 22:10 win over Caballa. Gergely Burian led the scoring with six goals, while Vince Vigvári added four in a comfortable victory for the league leaders.

Mataró claimed an impressive away win over Barcelona in their rescheduled Round 18 clash played this weekend. The teams were locked at 10:10 heading into the final quarter, but Mataró struck early in the fourth to take control. Barcelona were unable to respond, as the visitors secured a 15:12 victory. Oier Aguirre was the standout performer, scoring five goals in a decisive display.

Catalunya boosted their survival hopes with a strong 14:11 win over Mediterrani, producing a decisive final quarter to take all three points.

In the remaining results, Barcelona comfortably defeated Rubí 21:11, while Encinas de Boadilla face Sabadell on Sunday and Tenerife’s match against Mataró has been postponed.

Barceloneta continue to lead the standings on 54 points from 19 matches, ahead of Sabadell (48) and Barcelona (45). Terrassa’s comeback win lifts them to 39 points, strengthening their position in the top four, while Mataró move closer to the playoff places. At the bottom, Catalunya’s victory narrows the gap in the relegation battle, with Encinas de Boadilla still searching for their first points of the season.
