Zoran Bajić Returns as Head Coach of Mladost

HAVK Mladost has officially reappointed Zoran Bajić as the head coach of its senior men’s water polo team. The decision was confirmed today following a meeting of the club’s management. Bajić replaces Igor Milanović, who took over the role in October but did not renew his contract after the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.

A Familiar Face Returns

Bajić is no stranger to Mladost. A former goalkeeper for the club during the 1980s, he has been part of Mladost’s coaching staff since 2015. He previously served as the head coach of the senior team from 2017 to November 2023. During his tenure, Mladost captured multiple titles, including:

  • Croatian Championship (2021)
  • Two Croatian Cups
  • Two Regional League titles

Despite this success, a difficult start to the 2023/24 season led to Bajić being replaced by Damir Vincek, who managed the team until Milanović’s arrival in late 2023.

Continued Success in Youth and Women’s Water Polo

Though he stepped down from the senior team, Bajić stayed active within the club. Over the past 18 months, he coached Mladost’s junior men’s and senior women’s teams. Under his leadership, the women’s team secured the 2025 Croatian League title.

Bajić also leads the Croatia U20 national team, which is set to compete in the 2025 World Championships in Zagreb (June 14–20). He guided the Croatian U19 team to European gold in 2024, further cementing his status as one of the country’s top coaching talents.

A Stronger Squad for 2026

With Mladost finishing second in the Croatian League, the club has secured a spot in the Champions League qualification rounds. The team has already strengthened its roster for the upcoming 2026 season, adding experienced players such as Luka Lončar, Ivan Nagaev, and other key reinforcements.

Mladost is clearly aiming for domestic and European success—and with Zoran Bajić back at the helm, expectations will be high.
