Dunaújváros Begin Russian Training Camp With Tight Opening Match Against Dynamo-Uralochka

Hungarian side Dunaújváros have travelled to Russia this week for a short training camp and two friendly matches against Dynamo-Uralochka, one of the most historic clubs in Russian women’s water polo.

The team arrived on Monday, 11 November, and will remain in Russia until the 16th, using the international break to train, test new tactical ideas, and gain high-level match rhythm. Their schedule includes fixtures in Zlatoust and Chelyabinsk, as well as joint sessions with the Russian hosts.

A Thriller in Zlatoust

Dunaújváros played their first friendly today in Zlatoust, facing a strengthened Dynamo-Uralochka side celebrating the 40th anniversary of the club’s founding.

The match proved to be extremely competitive from start to finish. The Hungarian visitors showed strong energy, physicality, and mental resilience throughout, matching Uralochka goal for goal. With 1:30 left on the clock, the score was 13–13, demonstrating just how tight the contest was. Although the final score was not officially reported, both sides pushed hard in what was described locally as a “heated and high-quality” encounter.

The game marked the first time in several years that Uralochka have hosted a club of Champions League calibre in front of their home fans — something the local federation highlighted as a significant moment for the region.

Why These Matches Matter

According to Russian media, Dunaújváros’ visit forms part of a celebratory programme marking four decades of Dynamo-Uralochka. Both clubs have added new players during the offseason, and these matches provide valuable testing as they prepare for their domestic and European campaigns.

The friendly series is also an opportunity for both teams to:

  • face international opposition during the break;
  • evaluate squad depth and rotations;
  • work on specific tactical structures;
  • offer younger players competitive minutes.
