Double European champions Ferencváros have begun fine-tuning their squad for the new season, with a couple of confirmed changes to the men’s team signalling a measured but purposeful summer in the transfer market.
Bence Haverkampf Returns After Breakout Year in Italy
One of the most exciting developments is the return of Bence Haverkampf, who is rejoining Ferencváros after a standout season on loan at Pro Recco. The 19-year-old German-born utility player thrived in one of Europe’s most competitive environments, helping Recco lift the Italian League, Euro Cup and Coppa Italia and making regular appearances in both domestic and continental fixtures.
Born in Berlin in 2006, Haverkampf moved to Hungary at 16 and joined FTC’s youth system, where he quickly progressed under the guidance of Balázs Nyéki. He made his OB I debut in 2022 and featured in over 20 senior matches before heading to Italy. Internationally, he has already tasted success with U16 and U18 world titles in 2022 and 2024 respectively.
Márton Lévai Strengthens Goalkeeping Options
Also joining FTC is Márton Lévai, who signs from Vasas. The 27-year-old is regarded as one of Hungary’s most consistent and composed goalkeepers, bringing with him years of top-level domestic experience.
His arrival significantly strengthens Ferencváros’s goalkeeping department, which, as it currently stands, includes three world-class options: Soma Vogel, Dániel Szarkonyi, and now Márton Lévai. This depth will be crucial as the club juggles an intense domestic campaign and another push for Champions League glory.
Lévai’s presence adds both quality and competition in goal—a position that continues to be a major asset for FTC.
Ádám Nagy Completes Move to CN Marseille
On the outgoing side, Ádám Nagy has made a high-profile switch to Marseille. The 26-year-old Hungarian international, who previously played for UVSE, OSC, and Szolnok, leaves Ferencváros after a decorated spell.
Nagy was part of the squad that won the 2024 and 2025 Champions League titles and European Super Cup, and earlier lifted the 2021 Euro Cup with Szolnok. A regular member of the Hungarian national team, Nagy has won gold at the 2018 World Cup and 2023 World Championships, silver at the 2022 European Championships, and bronze at the 2025 World Cup.
His move to Marseille marks a new chapter in an already impressive career, and gives the French club a powerful centre-forward with elite-level experience. You can read more about Marseille’s transfer business here.
Zoltán Pohl Announces Retirement
A more emotional farewell comes in the form of Zoltán Pohl, who has announced his retirement from professional water polo at the age of 30. Born in Budapest in 1995, Pohl has been a mainstay in the Ferencváros backline for over a decade.
A true one-club man, Pohl has played for FTC since 2012 and enjoyed an illustrious career. With the club, he won:
- 6 Hungarian Championships (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025)
- 2 Hungarian Cups (2022, 2023)
- 2 Champions League titles (2019, 2024)
- 2 LEN Euro Cups (2017, 2018)
- 2 LEN Super Cups (2018, 2019)
On the international stage, he was part of Hungary’s gold medal-winning teams at the 2020 European Championships and the 2023 World Championships, as well as securing:
- Silver at the 2018 World League

Pohl’s career was marked by reliability, tactical intelligence, and leadership both in and out of the water. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty and excellence, and will be remembered as a central figure in one of Ferencváros’s most successful eras.
