The fourth round of Spain’s Women’s División de Honor delivered another weekend of exciting action across the country. Following Sabadell’s 18–11 away win over Tenerife Echeyde on Friday, five more matches completed the round on Saturday.
UE Horta hosted Catalunya in a Barcelona derby between two sides looking to move away from the bottom of the table. After a promising first half from Horta, who trailed only 2–5 at halftime, the visitors gradually took control of the match. Catalunya’s attacking rhythm and superior endurance proved decisive in the second half, finishing with a comfortable seven-goal margin (13–6) and earning valuable points.
At the Joan Serra pool, fans witnessed one of the most thrilling matches of the round as Mataró edged Terrassa 14–12 in a clash between two top European contenders. The visitors started stronger, taking a narrow 5–4 lead after the first quarter, but Dani Ballart’s side found their rhythm midway through the match. Inspired by Martina Clavería and Clara Espar, Mataró overturned the deficit to lead 10–9 before sealing victory with a 4–2 final quarter surge.
In Barcelona, Mediterrani earned their second win of the season, overcoming a determined Iruña 12–8. Despite Iruña’s resilient start — trailing by just one goal at halftime (7–6) — the hosts’ depth and experience ultimately prevailed. Mediterrani tightened their defense and controlled the final two quarters, leaving the Navarrese side still searching for their first points but with plenty of credit for their spirited performance.
At the Sant Feliu de Llobregat pool, Sant Feliu claimed their first win of the campaign, defeating Real Canoe 14–11 in a crucial lower-table battle. Both teams traded goals throughout, with Marta Ungría and Daniela Pajares leading their respective offenses. The hosts managed to pull clear only in the closing stages, sealing a much-needed victory that could prove decisive later in the season.
Finally, at Pere Serrat, Sant Andreu triumphed 13–9 against Barceloneta in a high-quality encounter between two of the league’s most ambitious sides. Javi Aznar’s reigning European and Queen’s Cup champions were pushed hard by Chus Martín’s fast-starting Barceloneta but managed to pull away in the second half. Elena Ruiz starred with a five-goal performance, leading Sant Andreu to their fourth consecutive win and keeping them top of the table on goal difference.
