The transfer rumour mill is heating up again — and this time, it’s swirling around one of Europe’s most in-form players. According to several sources in France, Daniel Angyal may be on the verge of swapping the south of France for the Greek capital, with Olympiacos reportedly interested in signing the Hungarian international from Marseille.
The towering 203 cm defender has been instrumental in Marseille’s Champions League campaign this season. Angyal’s performances in the French side’s high-profile home victories — particularly against Olympiacos and Novi Beograd — have not gone unnoticed.
At 33, Angyal brings a wealth of experience to any team. After stints at KSI, Honvéd, Vasas, Eger, Szolnok, and OSC, his move to Marseille in 2023 added another chapter to a decorated career. But it’s not just his club résumé that turns heads — with Olympic bronze (2021), World Championship Gold (2023), and multiple European medals to his name, Angyal is no stranger to competing at the highest level.
The potential move could mark a significant coup for Olympiacos as they look to bolster their roster ahead of next season’s Champions League. While neither club has officially commented on the speculation, sources suggest that talks are at an early stage, with Angyal open to the possibility of joining one of Europe’s most storied clubs.
This busy period of recruitment comes as three departures have been all but confirmed: Italian defender Alessandro Velotto and Serbian legend Andrija Prlainović are both set to leave Marseille at the end of the season. Vladan Spaic also looks set to leave for Herceg Novi.
Marseille’s intentions to refresh their squad have been made clear in recent weeks. It was already reported that Adam Nagy, the 26-year-old Ferencváros standout, is close to joining the club. In addition, Marseille is actively targeting Greek international Efstathios Kalogeropoulos, the highly-rated 23-year-old currently playing for NC Vouliagmeni.
