Greece name women’s World Championship squad as World Cup champions aim for more success

Fresh from their historic triumph at the World Cup in Chengdu earlier this year, Greece have named their 15-player squad for the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Head coach Haris Pavlidis has stuck largely with the group that delivered gold in China, with familiar names such as Eleftheria and Vasiliki Plevritou, Christina Siouti, and goalkeeper Ioanna Stamatopoulou included in the travelling party. Alexia Eugenia Tzourka, who starred in the World Cup final with a standout performance in goal, also returns.

The squad mixes experience with youthful energy, with key contributors like Eleni Xenaki and Maria Myriokefalitaki expected to lead from the front.

Greece are looking to add to their sole World Championship title from 2011, and will compete in Group C, with fixtures against Hungary, Croatia, and Japan. The team departs for Singapore on Sunday 6 July.
