Sabadell unveil new signings as major summer rebuild gathers pace

Sabadell have formally unveiled four domestic signings ahead of the 2025/26 season, marking the beginning of a major squad overhaul as the club looks to bounce back from a disappointing campaign both in Spain and in Europe.

At a press conference earlier today, Sabadell presented Paula Crespí, Isabel Piralkova, Helena Dalmasses, and Daniela Moreno as their newest additions. The players were joined by club president Claudí Martí and head coach David Palma, as they spoke to the media and posed for photos in Sabadell colours for the first time.

Star power: Crespí and Piralkova

The standout signing is undoubtedly Paula Crespí Barriga, who makes a sensational move from fierce rivals CN Sant Andreu. The 27-year-old is fresh off a Champions League triumph with Sant Andreu, where she was a key figure in back-to-back Copa de la Reina victories (2024 and 2025) — both won against Sabadell — and was instrumental in last weekend’s European final, where her side again defeated Sabadell.

Crespí, a 2024 Olympic gold medallist with Spain, brings elite-level experience, composure under pressure, and defensive solidity. Her signing represents a major coup for Sabadell and a shift in the balance of power within the Spanish league.

Joining her is another Olympic champion — 19-year-old Isabel Piralkova Coello — widely regarded as one of the most exciting young players in European water polo. Piralkova made her senior international debut in January 2024 and has since competed at three major tournaments: the European Championships in Eindhoven, the World Championships in Doha, and the Olympic Games in Paris, where she helped Spain defeat Australia 11–9 in the final.

At club level, Piralkova developed through the ranks at CN Mataró, before short spells with CN Atlètic-Barceloneta and most recently CN Terrassa.

Reinforcements in depth: Dalmasses and Moreno

Helena Dalmasses Zurita also joins the club, adding valuable experience and depth in attack. A product of CN Sant Feliu, Dalmasses has gained extensive top-flight experience in recent years with Sant Andreu, CE Mediterrani, and most recently CN Terrassa. Known for her work rate and adaptability, Dalmasses found the net in the 2024 Copa Catalunya final and continues to grow into one of the league’s most dependable offensive threats.

Daniela Moreno Pérez, meanwhile, arrives from CN Atlètic-Barceloneta, having previously played for Mediterrani. The 20-year-old utility player has already made a name for herself internationally, helping Spain win silver at the 2025 Water Polo World Cup Division 1. Her quick rise through the domestic ranks and her experience with two of Spain’s top clubs make her a highly promising addition to the Sabadell squad.

A summer of ambition

Sabadell’s busy summer doesn’t appear to be over. The club is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Isabel Williams, the current USA national team goalkeeper, who recently won the 2024 Cutino Award as the top collegiate player in the United States. Williams, who plays for Glyfada in Greece, is currently training in the U.S. ahead of the 2025 World Championships and was not present at today’s unveiling — but sources suggest a deal is close.

Sources close to Waterpolo 360 also identify that Greek star Athina Giannopoulou has agreed to join the Spanish champions ahead of the 2025-26 season.

After a season in which Sabadell finished second in Spain and lost both the Champions League and domestic cup finals, the intent is clear: to reclaim their dominance at home and in Europe. The signings of Crespí and Piralkova — two Olympic champions — alongside rising stars like Dalmasses and Moreno, signal a serious statement of intent from the Catalan powerhouse.
