Radomir Drasović linked with move to Marseille amid defensive reshuffle

Marseille’s summer rebuild continues to gather pace, with Serbian defensive stalwart Radomir Drasović the latest high-profile name linked with a move to the French powerhouse.

Drasović, 27, is widely regarded as one of Europe’s top defenders, having built an impressive resume across some of the continent’s biggest clubs. After standout performances at Red Star Belgrade, Partizan, Sport Management (Italy), Szolnok (Hungary), Novi Beograd, and currently VK Radnički, Drasović has established himself as a rock-solid presence at both club and international level.

A veteran of the Serbian national team, he had amassed 114 caps and 123 goals as of February 2, 2024, and was a key figure in Serbia’s gold medal triumph at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they defeated Croatia 13–11 in a thrilling final.

Marseille’s intentions to refresh their squad have been made clear in recent weeks. It was already reported that Adam Nagy, the 26-year-old Ferencváros standout, is close to joining the club. In addition, Marseille is actively targeting Greek international Efstathios Kalogeropoulos, the highly-rated 23-year-old currently playing for NC Vouliagmeni.

This busy period of recruitment comes as two major departures have been all buit confirmed: Italian defender Alessandro Velotto and Serbian legend Andrija Prlainović are both set to leave Marseille at the end of the season. Vladan Spaic also looks set to leave for Herceg Novi. Drasović’s potential arrival would be a major coup, bringing leadership, experience, and a winning mentality to a team aiming to reassert its dominance domestically and in European competitions.

With negotiations reportedly at an advanced stage, Marseille’s fans may not have to wait long before seeing one of Serbia’s finest defenders don their colours.
